Boutique application & billing-integrations consultancy

Ship the money path. Then keep it shipping.

We're the senior engineers you bring in when the billing flow can't break, the legacy app needs a real upgrade path, or your team wants to move from "we have a repo" to "we ship on Fridays without fear."

What we do

Four things, done seriously well.

We stay narrow on purpose. These are the engagements we take, the tools we use every week, and the problems we've been paid to solve over and over.

Billing & Payments Integrations

The money path is where "it mostly works" is not an acceptable answer. We design, build, and harden integrations between your app and the providers that actually collect the revenue.

  • Stripe — subscriptions, metered billing, webhooks, dunning, refunds, disputes
  • QuickBooks (Online & Desktop) — invoice sync, customer/vendor mapping, journal entries, reconciliation jobs
  • Tax providers (Avalara, TaxJar) and payment gateways beyond Stripe
  • Amortization schedules, revenue recognition, and idempotent charge pipelines
  • PCI-adjacent hardening: tokenization boundaries, webhook signing, audit trails

Legacy Modernization

The app that runs your business was written five, ten, fifteen years ago and everyone is afraid of it. We're not. We land you on a framework and PHP/JS/.NET version you can hire against again.

  • PHP 5/7 → modern PHP + Laravel upgrades (including ZF1 / Zend / CakePHP / Symfony rescues)
  • Strangler-fig migrations that ship value every sprint — no 18-month rewrites
  • Test harnesses (PHPUnit, Behat/Mink) added retroactively so the upgrade is safe
  • PHP-to-.NET and .NET-to-Laravel replatforms when the language itself is the ceiling

CI/CD & DevOps

Deploys should be boring. We build the pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and release rituals that let your team ship on demand instead of on nerve.

  • Pipelines on GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins — with real test gates
  • Azure and AWS infrastructure, Ansible / RunDeck automation
  • Zero-downtime deploy patterns, blue/green, rollback drills
  • Observability, alerting (Nagios and modern stacks), on-call runbooks

Agentic AI Integration

AI-in-the-loop development is the biggest productivity shift in a decade, and most teams are using it wrong. We show your engineers how to use it well — and build the adapters and guardrails to make it safe.

  • Introducing Claude Code / Cursor / agentic coding tools into an existing team
  • Adapters for self-hosted, open-weight LLMs (keep your code on your infra)
  • Prompt engineering, evals, and review workflows so AI output is trusted, not just accepted
  • Vector-DB retrieval layers over your codebase, docs, and support history

How we work

No decks. No discovery theater. Just shipping.

01

Diagnostic

A short paid engagement — usually one to two weeks — where we read the code, talk to the people, and produce a written plan with sequenced work and cost.

02

Ship

We embed with your team (or run solo) and deliver working software in weekly increments. Every increment merges. Every increment ships.

03

Hand off — for real

Documentation, runbooks, and pair-programming sessions so your team owns what we built. Optional retainer for ongoing office hours.

Ways to work together

Right-sized engagements.

Pick the shape that fits the problem. Most clients start with a diagnostic.

Diagnostic

1–2 weeks · Fixed price

Codebase and infra review, written plan, sequenced backlog. Often the whole engagement.

Project

4–16 weeks · Fixed-scope or T&M

A defined outcome — a Stripe rebuild, a Laravel upgrade, a CI pipeline stood up.

Fractional senior engineer

Ongoing · Weekly cadence

Embed with your team as a senior / lead. Code reviews, architecture, mentorship, and hands-on shipping.

Eric Pearson

Founder & Principal Engineer

Who you're hiring

You get a senior engineer, not an account manager.

Eric has spent 15+ years as a senior application developer and DevOps engineer — leading teams up to 8+ engineers, modernizing legacy PHP and .NET codebases, building billing and payment integrations that move real money, and standing up CI/CD across Azure and AWS. He founded TotallyFuzzed to do that work directly with clients, without the agency markup.

Every proposal, every architecture call, every line of code you pay for is written or reviewed by the same person you were on the sales call with. That's the whole pitch of a boutique.

FAQ

Are you actually a boutique — or a solo consultant?
Right now: solo, led by Eric. We keep it small on purpose, and pull in trusted specialist collaborators when a project needs them. You always know who is writing your code.
Do you take fixed-price work?
For diagnostics and well-scoped projects, yes. For ongoing modernization work we default to weekly T&M with a hard cap you set.
What stack do you work in?
Primarily PHP / Laravel, .NET, JavaScript (Vue + Node), and Python around the edges. Infra: Azure, AWS, Ansible, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins. Databases: MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server, Redis.
Do you sign an NDA / MSA?
Always. Send yours or use ours.
